Tech giant won't comment, but plans for new condo development show space for "Apple risers to Apple ceiling" in retail area.
Is Apple planning to open a flagship store at Yonge and Bloor? The company won’t say, but blueprints for a condo tower suggest it might.
Floor plans for The One, an 85-storey condo tower set to be completed in 2023 at 1 Bloor St. W., show an area of the building labelled “SPACE FOE (sic) APPLE RISERS TO APPLE CEILING ABOVE.”
There will be retail space in the bottom four stories of The One, which is scheduled to open in 2021.
The plans suggest Apple could have a prominent position in the building, and rumours about a flagship Apple store at The One have circulated on blogs and online forums for years.
“We have not talked or made any confirmations” about an Apple store at The One, said Joshua Lax, vice-president of development at Mizrahi Developments, the company that owns 1 Bloor St. W.
Foster + Partners, one of the architecture firms designing The One, also designed Apple’s campus in Cupertino, California, and Apple stores in Chicago, San Francisco, London and Istanbul.
