NIAGARA FALLS -- Leafs GM Kyle Dubas shed a bit of light on the stalemated contract talks with restricted free agent William Nylander in a Saturday morning question-and-answer sessions with students from his alma mater, Brock University.
Dubas said his hard line -- trying to keep salaries as low as possible to keep his young core together fora long run -- is what's best for the team.
"Sometimes the players might not like it very much, but I'm sure they'd rather win than be on a team that can't," said Dubas.
Without a contract since July 1, Nylander was not invited to Leafs camp.
