The eve of Black Friday saw some American shoppers fighting over televisions and parking spots.

A man in Claypool Hill, Va., had his arm slashed to the bone over a fight for a parking spot, police told the local NBC affiliate. Around 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening, two men were trying to park in the same spot. They both got out of their vehicles and 61-year-old Ronnie Sharp allegedly threatened Christopher Jackson, 35, with a firearm before using a knife to cut Jackson's arm, the Tazewell County Sheriffs Office.

Both men have been charged, Sharp with malicious wounding and brandishing a firearm, Jackson with disorderly conduct, assault and battery.

On YouTube, several videos surfaced late Thursday and early Friday of people fighting over deals at Walmart stores.

In one video, a woman is seen being arrested during a melee. In another video said to be shot in Fort Worth, Texas, a man is seen being helped away from a group of shoppers after chaos over deals.

The annual tradition of shopping - and fighting for the hottest deals - spawned the hashtags #WalmartFights and #Brawlmart on Twitter.

Shoppers were able to get an early start on deals with many stores opening Thursday, which is Thanksgiving in the U.S.
