A Toronto Paramedic Services deputy commander was among two motorcyclists killed in a weekend crash in Haliburton that also wounded two others.
Medic George Eliadis and his partner Shari Williams were in a group riding on Hwy. 118 near Essonville Line, near Haliburton, on Saturday evening when OPP say an eastbound vehicle crossed the centre lane and collided with four of seven motorcycles travelling westbound.
Eliadis and Williams were killed and two other motorcyclists received life-threatening injuries.
Eliadis’s friend George Christopoulos took to social media to express his grief.
“I write this with a heavy heart and with great sadness over the unimaginable loss of my childhood friend who died in an accident in Gravenhurst Saturday night. George Eliadis was a respected deputy commander at Toronto EMS, a loving father and a beautiful person, inside and out. I can’t believe that you’re gone my friend,” Christopoulos wrote.
“With profound sadness, we confirm the loss of Deputy Commander George Eliadis in a tragic accident on Saturday. Our deepest sympathy to all,” @TorontoMedics tweeted.
