Wednesday game preview: Calgary Flames at Toronto Maple Leafs

The Flames have lost five of their last seven games.

Johnny Gaudreau was third in the NHL in points with 36 and fifth in the NHL in assists with 24 through Monday’s games. Gaudreau was also fourth in points per game (1.33) and had been in on 41.1 per cent of Calgary's 78 goals scored, the highest percentage in the league . . . William Nylander led the Leafs with four points on their three-game road trip out west, and had points in four straight games before coming up empty in Vancouver.

The Flames have lost five of their last seven games, including a 4-1 decision last week to the Leafs and a 5-2 loss to Philadpelphia on Monday, which had lost 10 in a row . . . Calgary is are ninth in both shots per game (32.5) and shots against (32.4). Its power play is 14th in the NHL (20.4 per cent) and the penalty kill a lowly 29th (75.3 per cent) . . . The Flames are 6-10-1 when their opponents score first . . . Sean Monahan is fifth in the NHL in goals with 15, tied for seventh in the league in power-play goals with seven, and tied for second in the league with five game-winning goals. Michael Frolik is tied for third with two shorthanded goals.
